My deepest sympathies to the Moser family. I lost my father on 8/6/14. I hope the two of them meet up and talk about their mutual love of music! I always enjoyed my conversations with Ron and he was a big supporter of our music program at Springfield. I know he was always so proud of Erica.

Rather than share a story about something we did together while working at F.A. Davis publishing, I'd rather share what I think may have been one of Ron's favorite stories (at least the one I'm most familiar with). Ron had a serious love of music and as I, too, have always enjoyed a variety of music, we had that in common. On a number of occasions—sometimes at the office, but more often while traveling together for business—Ron would talk about when, as a Temple student, he volunteered and helped out with concerts (I think both on campus as well as the Philly Folk Festival and others). Apparently, this one time, it was Ron's job to drive Harry Chapin after a concert in Philadelphia back to New York. This was something else that both Ron and I could relate to: driving. My grandfather was a New York City cabdriver and I, like Ron, have always enjoyed being behind the wheel. Anyway, after spending hours in the car, Ron and Harry Chapin arrived close to the (I think it was the) Holland Tunnel across the river from Manhattan and Harry said Ron could let him out there. As Harry left both the car and Ron—a poor student with little money, little gas in the car, and a long trip late at night back to Philadelphia—he didn't offer to pay for gas or leave Ron a "thank you" tip for keeping him company for the past several hours. So, sort of like a character in Chapin's song, "Taxi," Ron stuck his head out the window and yelled, "Hey, Harry! Keep the change!"

Ron was an open handed, open hearted man. Genuine, generous, involved, insightful, happy. I wish we had kept in closer touch after he left Davis. I will remember him with gladness.

Ron and I worked together at F.A. Davis for several years, and we also played golf together often. I wish I could have hit the ball even half as well as he did. With his saucy wit and intelligent banter, we always had a fun time. Ron was unique and, for all he went through, a true warrior. My most sincere condolences.
